Referrals are made through local school districts, hospitals, doctors, and the Department of Human Services. Illinois Central College (ICC) is a community college located in the greater Peoria area. The college opened its doors 1967 to more than 2,000 students. Today the college annually serves more than 13,000 students and offers more than 1,500 classes per semester. As an open access college, ICC welcomes any student who is willing to learn. ICC's mission is: "Through learning, minds change. We believe by changing minds, we can change the world." ICC offers 55 programs of study leading to an Associate in Arts or Science degree; 52 programs of study leading to an Associate Degree in Applied Science; and 61 programs leading to occupational certificates. The average class size is 16. Tuition for the academic year 2018-2019 is $150 per credit hour. ICC offers a wide variety of continuing education and specialized training through its Professional Development Institute (PDI). ICC also offers recreational classes and a special summer session for young people called "College for Kids." The Performing Arts Center provides a wide variety of student and guest musical, theatrical and other performances. ICC fields nine athletic teams. ICC serves 10 central Illinois counties, with most students residing in Peoria, Tazewell, and Woodford counties. The community college district (514) covers 2,322 square miles. The Iowa Coalition Against Domestic Violence (ICADV) ICADV is the leading voice to end intimate partner violence in Iowa. Through our network of 22 statewide victim service programs, we provide comprehensive services to anyone who has been a victim of a violent crime – before, during and after. This includes but is not limited to: • Academic scholarship opportunities • Advocacy training and consultation/technical assistance to member programs, community and statewide partners • Coordination of statewide multi-disciplinary efforts to respond to victims • Direct support and personal advocacy to survivors of intimate partner violence • Emergency shelter • Financial empowerment courses • Identifying and developing services to respond to underserved communities • Legal assistance Policy and advocacy change at the local, state and national level Our agency recognizes that in addition to physical, psychological, emotional, financial and sexual abuse, survivors are impacted by the actions and attitudes of individuals and systems who perpetuate racism, sexism, xenophobia and homophobia. That is why we take a survivor-centered approach to victim services and believe community-based agencies and interventions, healthcare, educational and government systems should work together, centering the voices and experiences of those most vulnerable in our communities to enhance safety for survivors and their families.
