Indian Link Newspaper was established in 1994 and is currently one of Australia’s leading ethnic newspapers. With a print run of over 44,000 a month, we have separate monthly editions for Canberra, Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and a fortnightly publication in Sydney with an e-Paper emailed directly to over 25,000 email subscribers each month. We broadcast Indian Link Radio 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in Sydney and Melbourne, with live streaming on the Indian Link Website, where the latest community and upcoming events, news and articles can also be read. There are over 13,000 listeners to the radio currently and our website has over 10,000 hits per month. In early 2012 we launched our own Indian Link Application for smart phones and tablets – a free download where listeners can tune into our 24/7 radio station from anywhere in the world. We’ve already had over 2,200 downloads of this application and it continues to grow.

The Indian National Congress is India’s oldest political party. It led the freedom movement and has governed India for 55 of 72 years since independence. During this period, India evolved from being a poor and famine-stricken country to one of the fastest growing economies in the world, self-sufficient in food and a technological and scientific powerhouse. In 2009, India became the third largest economy in the world in terms of purchasing power parity, overtaking Japan. Under the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance, India saw the biggest ever jumps in literacy, health and nutrition, and 140 million citizens exited the ranks of the poor. All of this was achieved with minimum dislocation in a democratic system by ensuring that disadvantaged citizens also benefited from social and economic progress. It was almost Six Decades ago when Mr. R.K. Gupta, joined his father to assist him in his business, a retail outlet called Capital Optical Company at Chandni Chowk, New Delhi. This small outlet soon paved way for a leading name in Optical Trade with the distinction of being the First Indian Company to introduce International Brands from the world leaders. In 1967, Capital Optical Company floated the INDIAN OPTICAL COMPANY, with its own Lens Brand SUPROL ® (Acronym for Super Opthalmic Lenses), which soon broke all records. Years later, all business was consolidated into a new company, Indian Optics (P) Ltd., that has a nationwide presence today.
