Eventyret startede i ydmyge lokaler på Mariagervej i Randers med John Frandsen som eneste medarbejder. Kontoret i det nordlige Randers spiller stadig en rolle i virksomheden, men siden dengang i 1995 er der kommet 30 boligafdelinger, 4 erhvervsafdelinger samt 2 landbrugsafdelinger til. Grundlaget for virksomheden har siden starten været arbejdsomhed og korpsånd. Lige siden opstarten har John Frandsen og personalet selv stået for indretning og ombygning af ejendomsmæglerforretningerne. Det har betydet, at mæglerne og sekretærerne i etableringsfasen har hjulpet med opgaver som nedrivning af vægge, maling, rengøring samt selv sat kontorinventar på plads. Der er heller ikke i dag nogen, der er for fine til at hjælpe med oprydning, kaffebrygning eller rengøring. Kort og godt alle hjælper til med alt, når det er muligt. Personalet er for manges vedkommende uddannet i virksomheden. Alle ledende medarbejdere har været ansat i firmaet i mange år. Personalet er hovedsageligt i aldersgruppen fra 25 – 35 år, og alle er opdraget til, at jo hårdere man arbejder, jo heldigere er man.

Why are we doing this? Our team of engineers is unique for our roster of non-Japanese, sports-loving members (America, Honduras, UK, Vietnam). We communicate half the time in Japanese, half the time in English. Gordon Timber, based in Nairn in the Highlands of Scotland, has a long history of supplying high quality softwood timber to the British market. The Company was founded in 1862 and since the late 1880s, has been led by four generations of the Gordon family. It is now recognised as one of the top sawmilling companies in the UK. Gordon Timber employs around 90 people at its Nairn site. In 1995 the Company became the first sawmill in the UK to achieve Investors in People status which has been retained to the present day.
