THE KANSAS CITY BARBEQUE SOCIETY (KCBS), a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting and enjoying barbeque, is the world's largest organization of barbeque and grilling enthusiasts with over 20,000 members worldwide. KCBS sanctions over 450 barbeque contests world wide. From volunteering to actual event production, our members also offer assistance to civic and charitable organizations who organize events. KCBS serves as a clearinghouse of barbeque information which provides: Networking with related trade associations and other contest-sanctioning organizations Tracking trends in barbeque related products, and equipment Teaming up with other food organizations and the media to promote barbeque With our library, and extensive archive of barbeque related articles, KCBS offers educational programs, consultation services, and civic organization presentations to help promote barbeque as America's Favorite Cuisine.

Since 1940, Kansas City Bone & Joint Clinic has provided orthopedic service and compassion in Overland Park for patients with musculoskeletal disorders and injuries. Just as it was formed to do in 1971, the Kansas City CARE Clinic exists to promote health and wellness by providing quality care, access, research and education to the under-served and all people in our community. Today the clinic provides health care services in general medicine, HIV prevention and primary care, behavioral health, and dentistry. We accomplish this with a full-time staff of 105, plus an army of over 1,200 volunteers. One of the largest community health clinics in the country, the Clinic is funded exclusively through donations, grants, special events, United Way and contributed goods and services. We are located in the heart of Kansas City at 3515 Broadway. With its current funding, staff and volunteers, the Clinic is operating at capacity, caring for as many patients as it can and offering all the services it can. (formerly LIKEME® Lighthouse - KC) – The mission of the Center for Inclusion is to provide a safe, welcoming space where LGBT+ individuals, their families, friends, and straight allies can come for education and resources; and to build a cohesive LGBT+ community in the Midwest. We want to be recognized as the community center that helps individuals —regardless of sexual orientation or identity — to fully realize their potential.

The mission of Kansas City Community Gardens is to assist low-income households and community groups in the Kansas City metropolitan area to produce vegetables and fruit from garden plots located in backyards, vacant lots, and at community sites. KCCG helps over18,000 individuals in the Kansas City area each year. The organization maintains or partners with over 500 community garden sites. KCCG provides free gardening workshops, technical assistance, garden supplies, and other resources to individuals, families, neighborhood organizations, nonprofit agencies, and other groups throughout the metropolitan Kansas City area through the Self-Help Gardening and Community Partner Gardens programs. In addition, KCCG’s Schoolyard Gardens program staff help schools to create and grow gardens to improve students’ knowledge about nutrition and the importance of fresh fruits and vegetables to a healthy diet. KCCG’s Beanstalk Children’s Garden complements the efforts of Schoolyard Gardens staff by allowing school and community groups, families, and other visitors to learn about plant science, food production, nutrition, and insects during summer tours of this unique garden. The Beanstalk includes fruit, vegetable, and herb gardens; a seed and grain garden; the Curiosity Garden, filled with strange and unusual plants; and water garden featuring water lilies and floating hyacinths, fish, and frogs.

Non-Profit Organization

Kansas City Research Institute conducts clinical trials yielding results that empower medical professionals and patients to make informed health care decisions by advancing medical knowledge, promoting new and promising treatments, and facilitating access to otherwise unobtainable medications. Kansas City Research Institute led by liver specialist Dr. Bradley Freilich. Dr. Freilich has over 20 years of clinical research experience in phase 2-4 hepatology and gastroenterology trials, and has participated in close to a hundred research trials. KCRI opened a 20 bed phase one research center. While this facility will be able to do studies with healthy volunteers, our specialty is in trials for patients with liver disease, including looking at any drug that needs to be tested in hepatic impaired patient. KCRI also has experience in conducting Phase One Oncology Trials.
