Die KRAFTWERKSSCHULE E.V. (KWS) ist eine Gemeinschaftsorganisation von Betreibern von Energieerzeugungsanlagen mit 60-jähriger Tradition. Sie verfolgt ausschließlich und unmittelbar gemeinnützige Zwecke im Rahmen der Berufsbildung durch Veranstaltungen zur Aus- und Fortbildung von Fachkräften für die Anlagen zur Strom- und/oder Wärmeerzeugung- und –versorgung, durch Unterhaltung von Einrichtungen für diese Veranstaltungen sowie die Abhaltung von Prüfungen. Aktuell sind 202 Firmen Mitglieder der KWS; darunter 54 Stadtwerke, 29 Energieversorger/Kraftwerksbetreiber, 29 Unternehmen der Abfall- und Entsorgungswirtschaft und 60 Industrieunternehmen. Zusätzlich unterstützen 17 außerordentliche (z.B. Verbände) und fördernde Mitglieder (z.B. Hersteller und Dienstleister) die Arbeit der KWS. Die Arbeit der KWS orientiert sich am Ausbildungsbedarf ihre Mitglieder und leistet somit einen Beitrag zur sicheren, umweltfreundlichen und bezahlbaren Bereitstellung von Nutzenergien. Fachteams für konventionelle Kraftwerkstechnik, Simulatortraining, Erneuerbare Energien, Organisationsentwicklung, Kerntechnik/Strahlenschutz und Internationale Aktivtäten offerieren ein breites Angebotsspektrum. In 2019 führte die KWS 249 Lehrgänge für insgesamt 2455 Teilnehmer durch.
