Community volunteers interested in hospice care founded Lower Cape Fear Hospice Inc. in Wilmington, N.C., in 1980. Most of the 600 patients we serve each day receive care where they live -- in their homes, nursing homes and assisted living facilities. We also offer our services to patients in hospitals. In 1997, we opened the Dr. Robert Martin Fales Pavilion in Wilmington, southeastern North Carolina's only hospice inpatient facility, where more than 5,000 patients have been admitted. Our six-bed Angel House Hospice Care Center in Whiteville opened in 2008, and our seven-bed SECU Hospice House of Brunswick opened in July 2012. In 2014, we completed an expansion of the Fales Pavilion, adding a new six-room wing, increasing the hospice care center to 18 rooms. The entire facility was updated during the expansion and renovation project, which was funded by the Every Moment Matters Capital Campaign. Our services are available in Bladen, Brunswick, Columbus, New Hanover, Onslow and Pender counties in North Carolina and through Lower Cape Fear Hospice Mercy Care we also serve Horry, Georgetown and Marion counties in South Carolina. Our Palliative Care team works with patients and their physicians to improve quality of life, identify and aggressively treat symptoms, clarify a patient's condition and prognosis, and set achievable goals that honor a patient's wishes. Free community grief support services for adults are available, and Sunrise Kids offers in-school programs, individual counseling, and summer camps for grieving children. We offer educational presentations, seminars, and conferences on end-of-life care topics. Lower Hope Fruit is part of the Lower Hope Farms group based in Herefordshire. We are a large soft and stone fruit grower and packer supplying the major supermarkets. We specialise in cherry production and are leaders in our field producing late English cherries from July to September. As a highly seasonal business we are fast paced and forward thinking and welcome like minded people. We pack our fruit on site in our Grade A packhouse facility with up to date packing lines and cold storage. The fruit is packed to daily orders and distributed across the country to the supermarket depots.
