LITM a notamment une mission de : - veiller et de faire veiller à lapplication de la législation dont notamment les conditions de travail et la protection des salariés; - conseiller et assister les employeurs et les salariés et fournir des informations juridiques et techniques pratiques dans la mise en œuvre des dispositions légales, réglementaires, administratives et conventionnelles en matière de travail et de sécurité et santé au travail ainsi quassumer une fonction dinterlocuteur commun en vue de prévenir et daplanir des conflits sociaux individuels; - mettre fin aux situations en contradiction avec les dispositions légales, réglementaires, administratives et conventionnelles en matière de travail et de sécurité et santé au travail; - constater les infractions dans les domaines relevant de sa compétence et en aviser le procureur dEtat; - porter à lattention du ministre les déficiences ou les abus de droit constatés en pratique, ainsi que les questions de fait qui ne sont pas spécifiquement couvertes par lesdites dispositions existantes et lui proposer les moyens dy remédier moyennant avis circonstancié; - effectuer les inspections afin de contrôler lemploi de ressortissants de pays tiers en séjour irrégulier interdit par larticle L. 572-1.
