LAPO Institute is a centre for research and human capital development. The Institute provides training and technical assistance in the broad areas of microfinance and enterprise development. The Institute was founded in 1996, specifically to provide training services/capacity development for microfinance institutions, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and community based organisations (CBOs) in Nigeria. The success of the initiative led to the incorporation of the centre with Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) in 1999. Since its incorporation, the Institute has witnessed steady growth both in outreach and contents. Its new strategy has positioned it to provide certificate and diploma to youths in enterprise development and core microfinance operations.
