Shaping the Future with Knowledge In 1831, founded by the scholar Karl Karmarsch, the “Higher Trade School of Hannover” started with only 64 students. Today there are around 25,000 students in the natural sciences and engineering, the humanities and social sciences as well in law and economics. At the Leibniz FH in Hanover, almost 150 companies qualify their young talents in dual management and IT courses. The spectrum ranges from DAX40 companies such as Continental AG, Deutsche Telekom AG and TUI AG to SMEs and hidden champions. In addition to the dual bachelor's degree, practice-oriented full-time and part-time bachelor's and master's programmes round off our profile. Our aim is to educate our 600+ ambitious LFH students into the next generation of specialists and managers. In teaching, we particulary emphazise quality and real life relevance, with company projects being essential. We transfer the results of our research into teaching and operational practice.
The Leibniz-Institut für Astrophysik Potsdam (AIP) is an astronomical research institute, dedicated to astrophysical questions ranging from the study of our sun to the evolution of the cosmos. The key areas of research focus on stellar, solar and exoplanetary physics as well as extragalactic astrophysics. A considerable part of the institute's efforts aims at the development of research technology in the fields of spectroscopy, robotic telescopes, and e-science. The AIP is the successor of the Berlin Observatory founded in 1700 and of the Astrophysical Observatory of Potsdam founded in 1874. The latter was the world’s first observatory to emphasize explicitly the research area of astrophysics. The AIP has been a member of the Leibniz Association since 1992.
