Maine Preservation, founded in 1972, is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit member-based statewide historic preservation organization. Our Mission is to promote and preserve historic places, buildings, downtowns and neighborhoods, strengthening the cultural and economic vitality of Maine communities.

Based in Northeast Harbor, Maine, we are a highly respected, 116 - year-old nonprofit providing educational, medical, social services, and nondenominational spiritual support to the people of this exceptionally beautiful region of the eastern United States. Many of our services are delivered via the Sunbeam, a 74-foot, steel-hulled ship equipped with the latest telemedicine technology. Our administrative offices are located in Bar Harbor, while most land-based services are offered from our 60-acre campus in Cherryfield. In all that we do, we operate in a spirit of mutual trust and respect, and are committed to the capacity of individuals and communities to determine their own futures.

THE MAINE STATE SOCIETY FOUNDATION was established by the Society in 1990 to promote educational opportunities for Maine residents. The Foundation raises funds and awards scholarship assistance to students who are Maine citizens or residents attending accredited four-year degree-granting educational institutions in the State of Maine.
