Make a child smile is an organization that started in the year 2015. It was born out of the passion for suffering children who are usually victims of child trafficking, rape, child mothers, domestic abuse, child labor, child sacrifice and many other forms of child mistreatment. These are elements of abuse of children’s rights which are rampant especially here in Africa and Uganda in particular. Many children that we see abandoned on the streets of Kampala and other major towns of Uganda are victims of the above cases and in many cases the available children’s homes do not suffice the available problem. It is on these grounds that Make a Child Smile (MCS) was birthed as a vision in the heart of Mr. Ssembatya Alex who is now the Director in order to bring hope to these hopeless children.

Make a Mark Project is a social enterprise that combines the experience of our industry partners with the passion of young female students to equip them with the practical skills they need to succeed in their respective futures in industry, arts, sports or academia. We invest heavily in developing the belief in students that they can be at the forefront of change, and allow students to personally interact with partners to highlight that the opportunities available to them are real and tangible. After establishing self-belief and working to set goals, we work alongside our partners to train students as to how they can realistically go about achieving their goals. By conducting a blend of interactive workshops, practical experience training and reflective learning opportunities, students are trained in leadership, proper teamwork, strategic acumen and soft skills to make a mark on the world. We have collaborated with various industry partners so far, including National Australia Bank and Morgan McKinley, and have connected over 80 industry professionals with more than 1200 high school students.

Our mission is to bring hope and lasting change to Colombia and Peru. We work with individuals and communities to transform lives through education, scholarships, housing and community projects. Our Story: Make a Miracle was founded by husband and wife team Jack and Carolyn Canouse. They traveled to Peru with their children on several short term mission trips and built lasting relationships in the community of San Juan de Lurigancho. In an effort to empower and bring hope to three of their Peruvian "daughters"​ they financed their college education. Without this support the girls had no hope to further their education after high school. Jack and Carolyn realized this is part of the solution to bring lasting change to the community, so they came up with a plan to broaden the scope of their outreach. Make a Miracle was created in 2015 to gain support from others who want to team up with the Canouses and be a part of this community's transformation through education, housing and community outreach. They formed a leadership team of mentors in Peru that work with the individuals to encourage and promote their success.
