individual & family services
Northern Rivers Community Gateway began in 1976 to provide welfare services to people in Lismore, where our community hub still exists today, providing support and relief to the most disadvantaged people in the area. Our diverse range of direct support and community building programs now extends to the Far North Coast, New England, Mid North Coast and across New South Wales. Our purpose is four-fold. We deliver programs and services that support socially and economically disadvantaged people in overcoming their barriers to living healthy, happy lives. We provide facilities and resources in our community to increase harmony, connection, engagement and social capacity. We advocate for diversity, social justice and the empowerment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. We create opportunities for welfare service users to be self determining and have a voice in the decisions that affect their lives. We are governed by a board of management made up of individuals from a range of professional fields. We have a passionate and professional workforce of over 65 staff and 500 registered volunteers. Funding for our programs and services comes from a variety of agencies, sponsors, fundraising and social enterprise initiatives. Our vision is "many tracks, one road, sustaining community." Our organisational values are vision, commitment, integrity, respect and innovative. These values underpin all the work that we do.
