The Higher Institute for Physical Culture (at present National Sports Academy “Vassil Levski”) - Sofia was founded by Decree of His Majesty Tzar Boris III in 1942. As a university level educational institution, the Academy is awarding majors in the fields of Physical Education, Sport, Sport Management, Adapted Physical Education and Sport, Sports Journalism, etc.

The National Sports College offers professional coaching, training and educational services to individuals, groups, teams and educational institutions across Ireland. Strategically located in Athy, Co. Kildare, NSC is easily accessed by the national road network - only forty minutes from Dublin City, one hour from Limerick, less than two hours from Cork City and only a 20-minute drive from Portlaoise, Carlow, Kilkenny or Newbridge. Also accessible by rail and bus. NSC opened its flagship sports college in the summer of 2014 - and is one of the largest coaching and training centres in the country. This new state of the art 7,500 sq.ft. coaching and training facility includes a 3,000 sq. ft. fitness studio, a 2,000 sq. ft. High-performance gym, a 1,000 sq. ft. lecture room, sport science lab, changing rooms, showers, and parking for 20 vehicles. NSC offers high performance coaching and sport science services to teams and individual athletes, a sports injury and cryotherapy clinic and a national sports college. The National Sports College offers a wide range of nationally and internationally accredited courses in health fitness and bodywork therapies.
