All students should be provided with an opportunity to complete their high school education. However, for students living in poverty, those with special needs, and those who are new to this country or do not speak English, this is not always the case. A number of these students end up lagging behind in school, repeating grades, putting them at-risk for dropping out of the educational system entirely. In response to this focus, New Dawn Charter High School is a NYC Transfer School, reaching out to students who have either dropped out or are in-school truants—those who will most likely not graduate with their four-year 9th grade peers. Students will graduate with a NYSED diploma, meeting all graduation requirements. Mission Statement: New Dawn Charter High School will provide over-aged and under-credited students 15 - 21 years of age, including those who are English Language Learners and those with special needs, the opportunity to return to school and obtain a high school diploma through a rigorous NYSED standards-based education program. Within the framework of the education program, three programs will be offered: 1) Interventions for those with fewer than 11 credits, and for those with 11 or more credits 2) Internships in the community 3) College enrollment.

Through our work we know that women and girls affected by poverty, trauma and abuse have the potential to transform their lives. We support them by providing a safe environment and high quality, gender-responsive, trauma-informed support. We are passionate about what we do. We know it makes a difference. New Dawn New Day has worked to support the well-being of women and girls in Leicester and Leicestershire for over 30 years. We started out as a community-based women’s centre in the 1980s, and we now deliver a range of services to vulnerable and socially excluded women designed to meet their multiple and complex needs. We transform women's lives through... - Community outreach to make contact and engage women in our services - Woman-centred, holistic assessment and planning - One-to-one “key-worker” support, advice and advocacy - Supported and co-ordinated referral for specialist services - A high-quality holistic women’s counselling service, with specialist trauma support - Group programmes which support women to become more confident parents, manage their emotions better, recover from trauma, use arts to work through negative thought patterns and express their creativity - Education and support to help women move into volunteering and employment - Promoting healthy lifestyles - Peer support through our facilitated women’s groups
