NAMASTE - UK LIMITED is a Fair Trade company based out of UNIT D SNAYGILL INDUSTRIAL ESTATE, SKIPTON, United Kingdom. The extensive premises include an impressive showroom and warehousing facilities for the vast product ranges across Home, Gifts, Accessories and Incense. Initially founded in 1997 as a wholesaler, the company has seen significant retail sector growth in the last decade. Director, Sam Brummitt heralds a company ethos based on the belief that the best way to reduce poverty in the developing world is through trade. The aim is to improve Namaste's goals, aspirations and achievements while developing in tandem with producer partners. Namaste's kudos is as a BAFTS Member, the British Association for Fair Trade Shops and Suppliers as a Fair Trade importer. The overall aim is to establish mutually beneficial long term trade between small scale producers, using largely natural materials and traditional techniques to produce interesting and inherently beautiful articles. Namaste believe that the best way to help disadvantaged producers is to work with them in partnership through mutually beneficial and long term trade. The company has helped over 100 producers to grow and develop since trading commenced. Fair Trade Organisations Some of the company's suppliers are members of the World Fair Trade Organisation (WFTO) and some are members of their appropriate National Fair Trade Organisation. Their largest suppliers in India, Vietnam, Nepal and Kenya are recognized by the WFTO or their national counterparts as Fair Trade producers. Wherever appropriate, Namaste encourages and actively assist suppliers to seek formal fair trade recognition. In Thailand and Indonesia they deal with many very small scale artisan producers who do not wish to or do not have the ability to become recognised Fair Trade producers. Namaste believes very strongly that these are precisely the sort of very small scale producers who need help.
