“Promover el desarrollo humano en González Catán a través de un modelo de redistribución solidaria, gestión de excelencia y calidad en los servicios” Con el nombre de Obra del Padre Mario se conoce a la totalidad de los distintos servicios y acciones sociales desarrollados a partir de la extraordinaria capacidad de quien fuera su fundador, el Presbitero José Mario Pantaleo, conocido, admirado y amado por sus amigos y seguidores simplemente como el Padre Mario. Esta Obra, declarada de Interés Nacional mediante el Decreto 928/93 del Poder Ejecutivo, por solicitud del Honorable Senado de La Nación. La acción social de la Obra del Padre Mario (OPM) se caracteriza principalmente por la cobertura de las necesidades básicas, físicas, psíquicas y sociales de los pobladores de la zona en que desarrolla sus actividades, González Catán, partido de La Matanza, provincia de Buenos Aires. La concepción filosófica de la Obra implica brindar a la población necesitada las posibilidades de alcanzar su pleno desarrollo, apoyándola mediante la oferta de una respuesta digna para cada una de las contingencias sociales que puedan presentársele a una persona o a una familia durante toda su vida. Dichas contingencias tiene escasa posibilidad de tener respuesta por fuera del accionar de la Obra por diversos motivos: Nivel socioeconómico de la población cubierta, Nivel educativo o en capacitación, Dificultad de acceso económico o geográfico a las prestaciones existentes por fuera de la OPM. Las sumas recaudadas se utilizan en la prestación de servicios, de esta forma, un servicio otorgado se constituye a la vez en una prestación social y en una fuente de ingresos. Esto es así ya que las prestaciones sociales de la Fundación son brindadas por igual a aquellas personas que pueden pagarlas directamente (cuotas escolares, pago de consultas médicas) o mediante coberturas sociales de distinto tipo (discapacidad, tercera edad) y a aquellos otros que carecen de dicha posibilidad.
