Op De Meergronden staat de leerling centraal. Elke generatie van kinderen is weer anders is en stelt andere eisen aan ons onderwijs. De school zelf staat (letterlijk) midden in de maatschappij en moet ook inspelen op veranderingen in die maatschappij. Zo zien we dat kinderen van nu opgroeien in een wereld zonder grenzen: ze gaan naar school met leerlingen met een andere achtergrond, met een andere kleur, met een andere motivatie en et andere capaciteiten. Ze communiceren via de sociale media net zo gemakkelijk met hun buurmeisje als met een onbekende elders op de wereld. Engels is de taal die ze overal van jongs af aan horen en vaak ook gebruiken. Zo zien we ook dat kinderen van nu zullen wonen, werken, studeren in een wereld waar de zogenaamde globalisering een feit is. Daarom ook bieden we vanaf schooljaar 2012-2013 óók tweetalig onderwijs voor het VMBO en zullen alle leerlingen in hun lesprogramma op allerlei manieren kennis maken met ontwikkelingen elders in de wereld.
