Players Sports is an omni-channel sports retail business focusing on cricket, rugby, netball, rugby league, tennis, basketball, football, badminton, hockey, squash, licensed supporters' merchandise and school & club supplies. We approach each of our sports/divisions as separate entities. Each category is different regarding markets, shopping habits and dynamics. We cater for these by way of focused websites (e.g. www.playerscricket.co.nz, www.playersrackets.co.nz, www.playersclubandschool.co.nz etc.), segregated email databases, focused social media content and so forth. Our bricks and mortar stores are merchandised in line with the sporting seasons, however we try to maintain a base level of each sports representation year-round. Our business is fundamentally based on having very strong ties with the big global brands across all our sports, providing them a genuine specialist retail avenue and non-competing B-to-B channel in which to market and promote their premium sporting goods to New Zealand consumers. These relationships have grown each year to a point whereby we are now considered a key strategic outlet for sports brands and wholesalers in the NZ market - operating in the ‘local expert’ and customer service attentive end of the market where other NZ sports retailers and overseas websites don’t focus or function. Currently we have our flagship store in Newmarket, our racket pro shop inside the Tennis Auckland Scarbro Tennis Centre in St Johns and our warehouse/distribution centre in New Lynn. Our head office is located upstairs at our Newmarket store. Presently we work contractually with around 10 sporting organisations including Auckland Netball, Cornwall Cricket Club, Tennis Auckland, Counties Manukau Cricket Association and Eastern Suburbs Association Football Club.
