In 2015 is de Stichting ‘Ieder mbo een practoraat’ opgericht. Doel van de stichting is om de oprichting en inrichting van Practoraten in het mbo te stimuleren en te ondersteunen. Practoraten willen een scharnierfunctie vervullen tussen de innovatie van de beroepspraktijk waarvoor het mbo opleidt en vernieuwing van het onderwijs. Dichtbij huis en dichtbij de regio: onderzoekend en samen lerend. Kennisontwikkeling en kennisdeling zijn daarin essentiële componenten. Practoraten in het mbo willen een actieve bijdrage leveren aan de onderwijskwaliteit en innovatiekracht van de sector. Dat betekent het versterken van up-to-date beroepsonderwijs en innovatief potentieel bij docenten en teams binnen de instelling. Een professionele sector heeft daarom ook onderzoek nodig. Niet om gewichtig te doen, maar om verstandige, onderbouwde keuzes te maken, te reflecteren, te leren van anderen en de oren en ogen open te houden.
