Since 1931, Preservation Maryland has worked to protect the historic places, stories, and communities in Maryland that matter. We are a trusted resource for the individuals and grassroots organizations working to save places that matter to their communities. This work takes on many forms, including thousands of hours of technical assistance, capacity building, strategic visioning, and establishment of effective partnerships. To make measurable impacts, our work has been divided into three specific, targeted and strategic efforts: Advocacy, Outreach & Education, Funding. Our major programs are Six-to-Fix, Campaign for Historic Trades, Smart Growth Maryland, and the Heritage Fund, among others. Each year, we celebrate Maryland history and heritage with events like the Best of Maryland Awards, the Old Line State Summit, and our capstone event, Phoenix Rising.

Founded in 1939, Preservation North Carolina is North Carolina's only private nonprofit statewide historic preservation organization. Its mission is to protect and promote buildings, landscapes and sites important to the diverse heritage of North Carolina. It enjoys a national reputation, having been cited by the National Park Service as "the premier statewide preservation organization of the South, if not the Nation" and the National Trust for Historic Preservation as "the model organization of its kind."

The Preservation Society of Charleston is dedicated to recognizing, protecting, and advocating for the Lowcountrys historic places. One of the most important aspects of our work is participating in public meetings where decisions are made that affect not only Charlestons historic districts, but also how the built environment of the city at large takes shape and functions. A few of the regular public meetings we attend are the Board of Architectural Review (both Large and Small), the Board of Zoning Appeals, Planning Commission, and City Council. We review proposals for alterations, additions, and proposed demolitions to historic properties in historic districts as well as proposed new construction in the area. Preservation Society staff also meet with property owners, architects, developers, and neighborhood association leaders to discuss proposed projects as well as offer technical advice. We represent the interests of our membership and friends who believe that some things are worth saving.

Preservation Works Ltd. specializes in historically appropriate masonry restoration and custom plaster. Sustaining our architectural heritage is of the utmost importance to us. Using our knowledge of traditional masonry construction to repair older buildings, we extend this commitment to doing things the traditional (old world) way in contemporary construction interests including decorative lime, gypsum and clay plasters, plaster repair, interior and exterior (stucco), mineral and lime paints, masonry stains and lime washes. These materials have low embodied energy (energy used in manufacturing, transportation and eventual disposal) to create beautiful and unique decorative finishes which are natural, timeless, durable, repairable and nontoxic to all of us.
