We organise free weekly timed 5km events all over Australia. parkrun is a beautifully simple concept: turn up every Saturday and run or walk 5km. It doesn’t matter how fast you go. It doesn’t matter what you’re wearing. What matters is taking part. There are parkrun events in every state and territory of Australia. Each event is based in a unique location like a park, beach, trail or promenade. All events are organised by a group of our wonderful dedicated volunteers. parkrun is all about inclusiveness and wellbeing. We want as many people as possible to feel part of a real local community brought together by our events, as well as our global parkrun family. It’s why parkruns are never more than 5km – it’s a distance that anyone can complete, either running or walking, or a combination of both. At Parks Foundation Calgary (PFC), we create parks though partnerships by connecting donors and partners with unique park and sport projects. Our programs and projects take several forms - building, giving and supporting - all directly impacting local communities. We BUILD new parks, playgrounds, pathways and natural spaces in the city. We GIVE grants for community -led projects and amateur sport groups. We SUPPORT communities and non-profit organizations by providing accounting, fund and project management assistance. With over 150 community-led park projects, valued at $23 million dollars in more than 50 communities and over $200 million dollars in major capital projects the mandate of PFC is to improve the life of all Calgarians, creating thriving communities and public spaces. The work of Parks Foundation Calgary has directly impacted every single neighborhood in Calgary, from a local playground we helped build, to a dedication bench that was sponsored through our organization.
