Die PharmBioTec GmbH ist ein gemeinnütziges, auf Auftragsforschung spezialisiertes Forschungsinstitut, welches 2010 gegründet wurde. Das Leistungsspektrum der PharmBioTec GmbH umfasst biotechnologische / -pharmazeutische Forschung und Entwicklung in mehreren Stadien des Drug Development Prozesses und die dazugehörige Analytik. Die PharmBioTec steht in enger Kooperation mit den Universitätsinstituten sowie dem Helmholtz-Institut für Pharmazeutische Forschung Saarland. Der Grundgedanke von PharmBioTec ist ein möglichst großes Spektrum des Zeitstrahls von der Entdeckung bis hin zur Vermarktung eines neuen Medikaments abzudecken. Drei Professoren der Universität des Saarlands (Hartmann, Müller und Lehr) haben ihre Erfahrungen in unterschiedlichen Feldern der pharmazeutischen Wissenschaften gebündelt, um ein junges und flexibles Unternehmen zu gründen, das einen frei fließenden Innovationstransfer zwischen Universität, Forschungsinstitut und Industrie ermöglicht. Die Abteilung Analytik / Biotechnologie beschäftigt sich sowohl mit der Charakterisierung makromolekularer Wirkstoffe, wie Proteine und Peptide, sowie mit klassischen niedermolekularen Wirkstoffen. Validierungen werden für Wirkstoffe unter GMP-Bedingungen unter Einhaltung der pharmazeutischen Regularien realisiert. Sämtliche Dokumentation wird analog unseres Qualitätsmanagementsystems erstellt um den hohen pharmazeutischen Anforderungen gerecht zu werden. Die Abteilung Drug Delivery entwickelt innovative Drug Delivery Systeme und klassische pharmazeutische Formulierungen und verfügt über verschiedene zellkultur- und gewebebasierende in vitro Modelle biologischer Barrieren (Lunge, Haut, Darm). Die Abteilung Drug Discovery der PharmBioTec GmbH beschäftigt sich mit dem Design und der Synthese von Substanzbibliotheken für die Hit-to-Lead- und Lead-Optimierung.
