Fondé en 1981, le Regroupement QuébecOiseaux (auparavant l'Association québécoise des groupes d'ornithologues) est un organisme sans but lucratif qui regroupe et représente les personnes et les organismes intéressés à l'étude, à l'observation et à la protection des oiseaux du Québec. Il regroupe les clubs et sociétés d’observateurs d’oiseaux du Québec, des membres individuels ainsi que des organismes affiliés. Ses objectifs sont les suivants : favoriser le développement du loisir ornithologique, promouvoir l’étude des oiseaux et veiller à leur protection et à celle de leurs habitats. Pour atteindre ses objectifs, le Regroupement QuébecOiseaux s’implique activement à plusieurs niveaux. D’abord, il maintient les liens entre les groupes d’ornithologues au moyen de divers outils d’échanges (p. ex. bulletin de liaison, consultations auprès des membres, forum électronique) et offre à ces organismes plusieurs services susceptibles de les aider dans l’organisation de leurs activités (p. ex. guides pratiques, banque de conférenciers, code d’éthique). En outre, le Regroupement QuébecOiseaux favorise l’acquisition et la diffusion de connaissances sur la répartition, l’écologie et la conservation des oiseaux par le développement et le maintien de banques de données (p. ex. fichier ÉPOQ), par un programme de suivi des espèces en péril et par la réalisation de publications dont le magazine QuébecOiseaux. Enfin, le Regroupement QuébecOiseaux intervient publiquement dans les dossiers ayant trait à la protection des oiseaux du Québec et de leurs habitats.
