Berawal pada tahun 1989, Shafira mulai menapak secara serius dunia apparel & busana dengan sebuah pemikiran dasar yang sederhana, "Kenapa pakaian Muslim kok nampak kampungan gitu ya? Kenapa kita nggak mulai bikin yang Trendy dan Fashionable?" Setelah 23 tahun pendirian Shafira Corporation (Shafco), berhasil membangun sebuah bisnis di bidang Busana melalui Brand Shafira yang telah membuka 23 Showroom dan beberapa counter yang tersebar di kota-kota besar di Indonesia dan Kuala Lumpur. Shafira Sanggar Busana Muslimah digagas oleh Fenny Mustafa pada tahun 1989, sebagai jawaban kontemporer atas keresahan beliau terhadap busana muslimah yang tidak menarik dan, saat itu, cenderung ketinggalan zaman. Nama Shafira terilhami setelah beliau mendirikan sholat di Masjid Salman ITB. Nama ini diambil dari kata “Shaf” yang bermakna “Barisan yang Kokoh”, Shafira diharapkan dapat menjadi barisan yang kokoh dalam mendakwahkan busana Islami pada para muslimah. Namun, saat kata “Shaf” dan “Ira” berdiri bersama-sama, kata Shafira juga melambangkan Batu Safir yang bermakna anggun dan elegan, mewakili keteduhan, keanggunan, kemewahan sekaligus suasana kerendahan hati pemiliknya. Bentuk sulur pada logo Shafira diambil dari stilasi ragam hias arsitektur Islam, yang mengandung arti ‘Kehidupan’ yang tumbuh dan berkembang menaungi sekitarnya.
