Sicame was founded in 1955 to provide low voltage equipment to large European companies including EDF, France Telecom and the SNCF. Pour cela, elle délivre en leurs noms, des contrats de licence d'exploitation aux producteurs de semences ou plants qui en assurent la mise en marché. En contrepartie, la Sicasov perçoit des redevances, les reverse aux créateurs et contrôle le bon usage des droits concédés. La Sicasov gère et défend également les inventions biotechnologiques, procédés ou marques. Dans les cas de contrefaçon, elle peut aussi agir en justice au nom des détenteurs des droits. La propriété intellectuelle et l’innovation Les variétés végétales sont protégées dans le cadre des différents droits nationaux et internationaux. Ces dispositifs encouragent l’innovation et la création, participant ainsi aux progrès de l’agriculture et de l’alimentation. Champ d’action La SICASOV gère la plupart des variétés végétales protégées produites sous licence dans le domaine de grandes cultures. Elle gère également des variétés des espèces horticoles, fruitières, forestières et florales.
