When our Founder – Shirin Abulrazak created the business in 2003 it was to fill a niche in the market for a high standard, multi-functional beauty lounge for busy UAE women. The dynamic Shirin, a born entrepreneur already steered successful fashion and uniform enterprises but the decision to launch the Sisters Beauty Lounge brand was daring to go where others had dared not to. She set a trend that others continue to follow. The name inspired by Shirin’s three daughters (sisters) evoked a vision of the environment she wanted to create for customers and team members. A sense of belonging. From the opening of the first Lounge at the Village Mall in 2004 a commitment to people development has been at the heart of Sisters Beauty Lounge with inspirational stories of personal success. Many of the team’s founding members have key roles dotted around the branches and within the head office team. Rasha, Shirin’s eldest daughter was involved in the early development of the business and remained on the board in a consultative capacity. In 2008, under the guidance of her sister Sara, Sisters Beauty Lounge launched its flagship branch at the Dubai Mall and a decade on under her leadership the Sisters brand remains unparalleled. Hind, Shirin’s middle daughter also played an instrumental role in the business from 2011 spearheading the creative processes. Our desire to remain an undisputed market leader and ambitious growth plans for the region meant securing an investor with the same vision and energy and in April 2015 Sisters Beauty Lounge was acquired by the private equity fund CedarBridge. Whilst no longer involved in the business, Shirin, Rasha, Sara and Hind continue to act as brand ambassadors for the visionary business that still has beauty at the heart of everything it does.

We are here to inspire, engage, and empower girls in the intermediate years of high school through exposure to a variety of possible careers. We make role models visible for young women, in order to encourage and maybe even unlock a bit of curiosity for girls who hadn’t previously considered a career in STEMM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine) because of a lack of awareness about what it could look like for them. At the heart of our organisation are the Sistership Engagement Events, held at schools across Victoria. These involve Big Sisters; women in careers across a variety of areas of STEMM to participate in round table discussions with groups of girls in Years 9 & 10, called Sistership Engagement Groups. The aim is to provide a valuable opportunity for young women to learn about where a career in STEMM can take them, from women who have been in their position and can share their unique experiences, and also to connect with positive, accessible role models and network.
