The Constance Saltonstall Foundation for the Arts is dedicated to supporting the visual and literary artists of New York State. To that end, it offers free, month-long and two-week residencies from May through September on its beautiful 200-acre colony just east of downtown Ithaca, NY. Residencies provide time for inspiration, a quiet studio, a beautiful setting, and a stimulating community of artists working in diverse disciplines. Artists and writers who are New York State residents are invited to apply. Stipends are provided. Dinners are prepared by our colony chef five nights a week. There are five artists in each session: one photographer, two writers, and two painters, sculptors or other visual artists. Former residents are eligible to re-apply every other year. Saltonstall's five private apartments and studios are available for short-term, do-it-yourself retreats to any New York State artist or writer between October and April for a highly subsidized rate. A variety of public readings and exhibitions featuring residency alumni are also offered periodically throughout the year.

Salts of the Earth is the largest salt therapy business in Australia with a network of 27 locations. Our mission is to help our local communities to live, sleep and breathe better. Salt therapy is a natural therapy which has been practised for over 100 years. A specialised Halogenerator grinds Pharmaceutical Grade salt into tiny breathable particles and disperses these micro particles into a salt room. Whilst in a session, the salt particles are inhaled deep into the lungs to help loosen congestion and cleanse the airways of smoke, dust, pollution, pollens and other allergens. Modern salt therapy has its origins in the salt mines and caves of Europe and Asia. In 1843, Polish physician Dr Felix Boczkowski discovered that men working in the salt mines at Wieliczka suffered fewer respiratory problems than the general population. He attributed this to the salt aerosols being inhaled by the miners in the underground environment. As the workers were mining the salt (through chiselling, grinding and hammering at the salt), micro-sized salt particles were being disbursed into the air. The use of salt mines for therapeutic purposes developed in many countries including Poland, Russia, Belarus, Romania, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Slovakia and Ukraine. In 1980, the Odessa Science Research Institute in Ukraine developed the first Halotherapy device. The machine replicated the grinding and crushing of salt and the dispersal of micro salt particles into the air to model the conditions in an underground salt mine. Thus, modern salt therapy (or Halotherapyʼ) was born. Salts of the Earth are salt therapy specialists. Our centres are designed exclusively for salt therapy and utilise state of the art devices to optimise the conditions within our salt rooms. The Sail and Life Training Society (SALTS) was founded in 1974 and is a registered charity in both Canada and the United States. The Society operates two heritage tall ships, the Pacific Grace and Pacific Swift, and provides sail training and mentorship to young people ages 13-25 (as well as Day Sails for all ages). Based in Victoria, British Columbia, SALTS has been a part of Vancouver Islands maritime community for over 40 years. Approximately 1,700 young people have the life changing experience of learning to sail a tall ship with SALTS each year. Voyages take them to the Gulf Islands of BC each spring and fall, and in the summer the ships circumnavigate Vancouver Island and travel along the west coast of British Columbia. Young people from all socio-economic backgrounds participate, and a bursary program covers costs for those who require financial assistance. SALTS partners with numerous other youth-focused organizations to provide bursaries to young people who are at-risk, from low-income households, or from challenging life situations.
