In 2013, the former South Georgia College and former Waycross College merged to create what is now SGSC. Beautiful historic location in Southeast Georgia. The tree-lined Douglas campus features 190 landscaped acres and includes a blend of well-maintained classroom and residential space with open green areas suitable for student gatherings. The Waycross campus features 150 acres of wooded land and includes three academic buildings, two lakes, and a walking trail. Both campuses have facilities which are home to the SGSC Hawks athletic teams. The intercollegiate athletics program has a rich heritage in both Douglas and Waycross, drawing athletes from throughout Georgia as well as other states and countries. The athletic program includes baseball, softball, women’s soccer, men’s and women’s swimming, men’s and women’s cross country, and men’s basketball (Waycross campus). South Georgia Technical College's main campus is located in Sumter County, six miles northeast of Americus. The college is 135 miles south of Atlanta, between Highways 19 and 49 on South Georgia Tech Parkway. It has a satellite campus in Cordele. It has been spotlighted as the top-ranked community college in Georgia for 2017 by two different organizations. South Georgia Technical College is one of only two technical colleges in Georgia with on-campus housing and a full service cafeteria. The college offers over 200 different associate degree, diploma and short-term technical certificate of credit educational opportunities.
