From 2010 through early 2013 Specialty focused exclusively on production of the “Legacy” line of aluminum spray booms, a robust design that has been used in concert with most every sprayer available in the U.S. market today, including Case, John Deere, Hagie, Miller, Apache and others. In August of 2013 Specialty introduced a completely new Millennium line of spray booms. This new design incorporates a fully extruded and machined top “cap”, which significantly reduced the number of welds in the “tensioned” area of the boom, thereby improving durability by reducing the likelihood of fatigue cracking. In addition to improved durability, the new top cap extrusions are arced and slotted, to enable the routing of hoses and wiring harnesses so as to provide a “clean” look. Other improvements include a bolt-on hinge design featuring internally mounted fold cylinders, optimized tubular truss connections, hardened steel lift lugs, a wide lower structure for easy spray bar access & nozzle body clearance, and optimally placed and engineered welds. At present, both the “Legacy” and “Millennium” line of standard aluminum spray booms are offered in 120’ and 132’ spans for virtually any nozzle spacing application. Specialty Granules LLC has been a leader and innovator in aggregates and mining for over 100 years, manufacturing specialized products for the roofing, construction, and agricultural industries. SGI is headquartered in Hagerstown, MD, and has six plants strategically located across the U.S. Plants in Blue Ridge Summit, PA; Annapolis, MO; Pembine, WI; Trona, CA; and Ione, CA, are open-pit quarries, mining rock that is crushed and screened to produce granules and aggregates. Granules are colored with ceramic pigments and utilized as colored roofing granules or left uncolored and used on the unexposed portion of shingles. These granules are then sold to roofing manufacturers in the U.S. to help protect millions of North-American homes each year. Rocks unable to be used for granules are instead utilized in the aggregates market to help protect roads and provide a safeguard against erosion.
