Spring Lake Park - Blaine - Mounds View (SBM) Fire Department currently operates as a combination non-profit organization protecting the three northern suburbs in the Twin Cities metro area. Established in 1944, SBM has grown to be the 2nd largest fire district protected by Volunteers and the 5th largest Fire Department in Minnesota. The department is managed by 8 Chiefs, 14 Full Time personnel, 12 City staff, and 55 volunteer firefighters. Boasting a phenomenal track record of fire deaths and injuries - Prevention has been the motto for over two decades - Setting the stage for many departments since. SBM runs out of 4 fire stations as well as the Blaine City Hall. Protecting over 40 square miles and 85,000 citizens as well as the Anoka County Airport. The Department offers services in fire protection, rescue, hazardous materials, medical assisting, gas monitoring, recovery, fire education and prevention, EMS education, among others.
