St Joseph's Nudgee College (est. 1891) is a day and boarding school for boys in Years 5 to 12, with a student population of more than 1,700. As a Catholic school in the Edmund Rice Tradition, the culture and values of the College are shaped by the Touchstones of inclusive community, gospel spirituality, liberating education and justice and solidarity. The academic culture of the College is influenced by Art Costa’s “Habits of Mind”, ensuring the empowerment, engagement and encouragement of students, staff, and parents. St Joseph’s Specialist Trust is a non-maintained specialist school and college, registered children’s home with two local adult supported living houses nearby. The St Joseph’s community consists of approximately seventy five students at the school and college, eleven tenants resident at the Supported Living Houses who are supported by almost 270 staff. We cater for young people aged 5 – 19 with complex and severe learning difficulties, many of whom are on the Autistic Spectrum, and other associated difficulties. Our provision uses an embedded therapies approach and focuses on access to the community for all, irrespective of their challenges. We are a Catholic provision with Christian principles at our core; welcoming students and staff of all faiths and of none.
