Holy Cross School has a unique history as the first English Catholic school in St. Boniface, the historical French sector of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. During its seventy-five years, Holy Cross School has developed a tradition of excellence which has fostered the spiritual and academic growth of its students. St. Michaels Abbey is an autonomous abbey of the Norbertine Order. The Abbot is assisted in his governance of the community by members of his council. The canonry currently has 47 priests, and 18 seminarians studying for the priesthood. All members of the abbey live a full priestly and monastic common life; with daily attendance at the choral Office in the abbey church and life in community. Priests from St. Michaels Abbey give spiritual direction and retreats to many different religious communities, both in California and internationally. Confreres assist in many Catholic organizations locally and nationwide, prison ministry and staffing of parishes in the dioceses of Orange and Los Angeles. Our church is was established in 1807, in what was known as the Bloomingdale section of Manhattan. We have a vibrant music program, including professional, parish and children's choir programs. Services are offered during Sunday morning and evening, with daily morning prayer services. Our Saturday Soup kitchen runs 52 weeks a year, providing a nutritious, hot meal to all. From Sept -- May we offer our "Wednesday Night Bistro", where you can enjoy a professionally prepared menu at reasonable cost. Our Cemetery was established in 1852 by the Rector of St. Michael's Church, the Rev. Thomas McClure Peters, and is one of the oldest religious, nonprofit cemeteries in the New York City metropolitan area which is open to people of all faiths. The cemetery is approximately 88 acres in size and can serve the community for in-ground burials, mausoleum space, niche space and a four retort crematory with a chapel for services.
