The Steel Institute is divided into three units. Prof. Krupp is new Head of Institute and in co-operation with Prof. Bleck he is responsible for the research field of Materials Science of Steel. Prof. Dieter Senk holds the chair of Metallurgy of Iron and Steel, which investigates the manifold aspects metallurgical process technology of iron base alloys. The Teaching and Research Area for Integrity of Materials and Structures under direction of Prof. Sebastian Münstermann has got its key research area in the field of optimized exploitation of mechanical property profiles of damage tolerant metallic materials.
