Established in Hong Kong in 1963, the Stelux Group started business initially as a watch component manufacturer exporting stainless steel watch components overseas. Nearly a decade later in 1972, Stelux was listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (Stock Code: 84). The name "STELUX"​ has its origins in the words "steel"​ and "luxury"​, as in the early 1960's, the stainless steel components manufactured by the Group were considered luxury products. STEM Academy Education Trust was founded in 2011 by London Skills & Development Network and The Skills & Development Agency (previously S&DA Group) in recognition of the growing educational, political and business demand for high-quality, relevant and current STEM-related education provision. The Government and the business community acknowledge that STEM-based industries will be among the key drivers in the UKs future economic growth. This is reflected in the hugely diverse career options available to STEM graduates and the highly competitive salaries they are able to command. In 2013 we launched STEM Academy Tech City just off Silicon Roundabout Londons first sixth form academy specialising in STEM. After just one year it has proven to be an established and successful academy serving the local community. It was oversubscribed for the 2014 intake, demonstrating the huge demand for specialist STEM institutions in London. We are aiming to replicate this success for students with a passion for STEM subjects through the opening of our second specialist STEM institution, STEM Academy Croydon Gateway. This new academy is due to open its doors in September 2015 and, like STEM Academy Tech City, will offer a unique academic experience to students in the borough of Croydon and across South London who have an interest in receiving a STEM-based education.

STEM Ambassadors are volunteers from a wide range of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) related jobs and disciplines across the UK. They offer their time and enthusiasm to help bring STEM subjects to life and demonstrate their value in life and careers. STEM Ambassadors are an important, free-of-charge resource for teachers and other individuals working with young people both in and outside of the classroom. Our STEM Ambassadors include people from all disciplines and backgrounds including engineers, designers, architects, scientists and technicians. They help bring a new and inspiring perspective to STEM lessons and career opportunities. Our aim is to ensure that teachers and schools, as well as community and youth groups, are able to access STEM Ambassador support to inspire and engage young people in STEM subjects.
