Science Shepherd Homeschool Curriculum was developed by a homeschool dad, who experienced first-hand the need for quality higher level science curricula for the homeschool community. "We have been homeschooling our six children since 1998. As our oldest child got nearer and nearer to first junior and then senior high school, we began to have conversations with other parents about continuing homeschooling as their children proceeded through the higher grade levels. Unfortunately, some parents made the decision not to continue homeschooling their children through the higher grades, and one of the most common reasons was because of concern about not being able to provide excellent higher level science education. Designed for independent study with advanced but easy-to-learn presentation, but with the supplementary teacher information, parents can be involved in their student(s) learning, if they choose. Science, Engineering and Mathematics Link, Inc. (SEM Link), a tax-exempt national nonprofit organization, founded in 2005 by Ms. Tokiwa T. Smith in Atlanta, Georgia on the premise that exposure to members of the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) communities is critical to student achievement and career exploration in math and science. Our two core programs, Experimental Design Program and Math and Science Career Academy, enhance the STEM educational experience for K-12 students by providing them with opportunities to engage in hands-on STEM activities, explore STEM careers and learn about real-world applications of STEM. Since our inception we have served thousands of youth in Atlanta, the San Francisco Bay Area and the Washington DC Metro Area. We currently serve Atlanta and the DMV (DC, Maryland and Virginia) metropolitan areas.
