INDUSTRY SUCCESS THROUGH RESEARCH PARTNERSHIPS The Scottish Aquaculture Innovation Centre (SAIC) is transforming the relationship between the aquaculture industry and research communities. By developing connections and collaboration between them, we promote innovative solutions to industry-defined issues and problems. Our areas of interest include fish and shellfish health and welfare; feeding, quality and nutrition; breeding and stock improvement; and engineering. The aim of our work is commercial success, a more sustainable industry, and economic growth. The benefits of SAICs work reach beyond the industry too. By working on applied research projects, academics can access funding, gain opportunities to demonstrate impacts in future funding exercises, and address problems under commercial conditions. Based at the University of Stirling, we are funded by the Scottish Funding Council in partnership with Scottish Enterprise and Highlands and Islands Enterprise, with funding matched by the industry.
