The Port of Texas City / Texas City Terminal Railway Company is the 15th largest port of 150 ports in the United States and the 4th largest in Texas, with water borne tonnage exceeding 50 million net tons. The Texas City Terminal Railway Company provides an important land link to the port, handling over 25,000 car loads per year. The Port of Texas City’s success as a privately-owned port has been aided by its shareholders, the Union Pacific Railroad and BNSF Railway, whose connections allow for expeditious interchange of their traffic. Texas City Terminal Railway crews provide switching in the Texas City area, inside the Port, and for all industries and businesses requiring rail services.

The City of Nanaimo formed The Port Theatre Society in 1989 to build an 800-seat theatre on the breathtaking waterfront in downtown Nanaimo. The Port Theatre opened in September of 1998, thanks to grants from the Federal/Provincial Infrastructure Works Program and an outstanding level of community support. Of the $13.1 million budget, $8.6 million came from the Infrastructure Works program.
