The School for Ethics and Global Leadership (SEGL) is a selective, semester-long residential program for motivated high school juniors from across the United States. We select students who have shown outstanding character, promise for leadership, and scholastic ability; our students also reflect the racial, socioeconomic, and geographic diversity of the United States. SEGL provides our students with a unique curriculum emphasizing ethical thinking skills, leadership development, and international affairs. Our programs in Washington, DC, Johannesburg, South Africa and London and our affiliations with noted institutions and individuals ensure our students have access to the best each of these locations has to offer. Our students graduate ready to create positive change in our world. They return home equipped with a greater understanding of themselves, an academic experience that will inform their college study, new leadership capabilities, and amazing lifelong friends.

The School for Field Studies (SFS) is a unique 501c3 nonprofit academic institution headquartered in Beverly, MA. It was founded in Boston in 1981 by a small group of visionary individuals. Their mission addressed the critical need to increase environmental literacy and sustainably manage the world's resources. They did this by pioneering experiential, field-based education for young people. Today, SFS is known throughout the United States as the premier undergraduate environmental study abroad program. Over 20,000 students have participated in our programs, and over 150 colleges and universities are affiliated with SFS. Courses on ecology, resource management, and socioeconomics provide the basis of our three-pronged mission to educate students, disseminate research, and reciprocate to host communities by sharing that research. Each SFS field center offers a theme of study based on the local ecosystem and needs of the local community. The SLA believes that every pupil is entitled to effective school library provision. The SLA is committed to supporting everyone involved with school libraries, promoting high quality reading and learning opportunities for all. What we offer our members: - A quarterly journal full of best practice for primary and secondary, ideas for activities, tips; book and digital reviews across all ages from 0-8 through to 16-19 enabling educationalists to stay up to date with the latest in children’s publishing and maximise their budget - Access to an advice line (email or telephone) and providing realistic personal advice and guidance on any issues/best practice for library staff, Heads, HR or Governors - Training – online, day or weekend courses, run to an extremely high standard but maintaining affordability - Publications – lively and practical, which are easily readable on a range of topics covering all school stages - A mentoring service for anyone with responsibility for running the library - Exclusive member only resources and guidance on the website, from promoting reading for pleasure, combatting fake news, library design, recruitment and much more - Regional branches which run their own training days and run network events.
