The University of Tampere and Tampere University of Technology merged on 1 January 2019. The new Tampere University together with Tampere University of Applied Sciences forms a new higher education community in Tampere with competitive edges in health, society and technology. We offer our students flexible and individual study paths that enable them to develop in-depth expertise, mutual understanding, and grasp broad multidisciplinary perspectives. Our services include virtually all medical specialties from emergency care to rehabilitation. In addition to excellent care, Tampere University Hospital provides training and research. Currently, we have several ongoing scientific research projects, and more than 3,000 health-care and medical professions students train in our hospitals every year. Tampere University of Technology (TUT) was Finland's second-largest university in engineering sciences. It existed in 1965-2018. Tampereen Energia on monipuolinen energiatalo, jossa työskentelee lähes 400 uusiutuvan energian ammattilaista. Ilves Tampere, founded in 1931, is a multi-sport club having teams in football, ice hockey, futsal, floorball and ringette. In total Ilves has over 5000 members which makes it the biggest sports club in Finland and one of the strongest brands in Finnish sports. Ilves is a 16 time Finnish hockey league champion. Men’s first team and U20 team are operated by Ilves-Hockey Oy which was established in June 2000. Ilves plays home games in multipurpose Nokia Arena which capacity is 12,700.
