The Toronto Japanese Language School is one of the many surviving monuments to the courage, accomplishments, and pride of the Japanese Canadian Community. The school was established in 1949 during the difficult period of resettlement from the wartime internment camps, by members of the Toronto Japanese Canadian community. The founding members wanted to provide family-oriented Japanese language instruction as a means of retaining and fostering awareness and pride, particularly in the younger generation, in the unique and rich heritage of Japanese culture and language. From its origins as a school serving Japanese Canadian families with grandparents, parents, and children who spoke some Japanese at home, the school has and continues to evolve. The school now provides instruction to anyone, from preschool to senior who is interested in learning about Japanese language and culture, whether for individual development or business reasons. Our classes represent a wide spectrum of Canadian society eager to learn more about Japan and its culture by studying and understanding the Japanese language.

The TMU MSA is one of the largest recognized non-profit student groups on campus. We are dedicated to serving our members and enhancing their post secondary experience in the broadest way possible. Our goal is to build a community that is an integral part of the student movement and the Canadian society at large, while preserving our unique Islamic identity. Our goals are broken into three main areas. We aim to Foster, Support, and Engage Muslims on campus in achieving their goals on campus, as well as creating an inclusive community where every Muslim is included. The TMU MSA hosts many events that range from student life such as The Amazing Race to professional development like our Resume and Cover Letter Workshop. Following a recruitment drive, over 80 players arrived at Riverdale Park in August of 1950 to form the first ever Rugby Union league in Ontario. The Nomads (blue and white hoops) Rugby Football Club was born. Since the 1950s the Nomads are now a 260 member, downtown Toronto competitive side boasting: - Mens, 3 teams - Womens, 2 teams - Juniors, 7 teams - Old Mads, 1 team I n 2010, the Nomads celebrated 60 years of Rugby!
