TasPorts is a state-owned company responsible for eleven Tasmanian ports and the Devonport Airport, operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. As an island state, Tasmania is reliant upon shipping, port infrastructure and port operations to sustain our communities and our economy. Each year 99% of the State’s freight moves through the TasPorts multi-port network. Working collaboratively, we work to deliver upon our vision to proudly connect people, products and solutions for the benefit of all Tasmanians. We are responsible for Tasmania’s four major ports of Bell Bay, Burnie, Hobart and Devonport. Beyond our major ports, we are also responsible for the management of a number of smaller community ports around Tasmania; Beauty Point | Inspection Head, Port of Lady Baron | Flinders Island, Whitemark Harbour | Flinders Island, Currie Harbour | King Island, Port of Grassy | King Island, Port of Stanley | North West Coast and Port of Strahan | West Coast.

The principal objectives of the business are set out in the Rail Company Act 2009 and require the Company to operate a rail business in Tasmania, effectively and efficiently and to operate its activities in accordance with sound commercial practice. With a workforce of around 250 men and women, Tasmania’s current freight task is approximately 2.5 million tonnes per year – generating annual revenue in the order of $30 million. Since it was established, TasRail has spent $97.7 million purchasing goods and services from more than 900 Tasmanian Companies.

Tassal Group Limited is an Australia-based company. TASSK is an Aboriginal owned business initiated by Taye Williams, an Anangu/Noongar man. This was a direct result of his own experiences as not only an Indigenous person looking for employment but also one having a disability. Taye was born with Cerebral Palsy but this has never stopped him from achieving his goals. Unfortunately when he began looking for work he encountered many stereotypes and hence TASSK was born. TASSK aims to improve outcomes for all Indigenous people and give them the best job search skills and opportunities to enter the workforce and be successful.
