These urgent questions about our future define the profile of the Technische Universität Bergakademie Freiberg in both research and teaching. The six faculties develop efficient and alternative technologies for a sustainable economy and industry. The focus is on the exploration and processing of a wide range of raw materials; the extraction, storage and conversion of energy; the development of new materials and recycling processes. With engineering, natural sciences, geosciences, materials science and economics, the university combines the subjects and disciplines necessary for an holistic understanding and covers all areas from basic research to application-oriented research. TU Bergakademie Freiberg was founded in 1765 in order to drive transformation processes and future technologies and to provide the country with new knowledge for an economic upswing. Still today, the university holds this claim: We educate economists, natural scientists and engineers with vision and conscience who take the future into their own hands and help to positively shape the world. More than 4,000 students in 69 programs are currently studying in Freiberg in a scientifically sound and practice-oriented manner. TU Delft Robotics Institute unites all the TU Delft’s research in the field of robotics. Its main challenge is to get robots and humans to work together effectively in unstructured environments, and real settings. Within the institute both the ‘hard’ robot disciplines (mechatronics, embedded systems, control and AI) and the ‘soft’ robot sciences (human-machine interaction, user interaction, architecture, ethics and design) have a prominent presence. By joining forces, and aligning research, education and valorisation, TU Delft Robotics Institute takes a leading role in the creation of the next generation robotics.

TU Dublin Student Managed Fund (SMF) was established in January 2018 and it allows students to develop skills in the fields of business analysis, investing, risk management, valuations and equity analysis within a secure corporate governance structure. The student executive committee oversees the day to day investment and operational activities of the fund. The student executive committee are guided by the advisory board which comprises of academics from within TU Dublin and also industry experts. TU Dublin SMF is a rare initiative as the investment fund is run entirely by students with constant guidance from an advisory team. We are a non-remunerated organisation, with a mission of giving back to the community. This fund focuses on promoting professionals who wish to develop key qualities that will enable them to gain a competitive edge in the investment industry in Ireland and Internationally. Competing annually in the Goodbody Stockbrokers Student Managed Fund Competition, we have committed to give 100% of returns made on the fund to local charities, which will be rotated annually. Our aim is to integrate what is taught on some of programmes in TU Dublin into real-life work scenarios for our students. We want our students who wish to hone in on their professional skills - be they related to accounting, investments and finance, marketing and PR, operational or management and leadership. We also seek advice and guidance from industry experts to host and led events, provide guest speakers and to give students a good insight into life in the accounting, finance, financial services and investment industries. Our overall aim is to increase the interest in our fund, develop student’s critical thinking and professional skill sets as well and as creating a strategic relationship with some of Ireland’s largest financial services firms.
