Being a spiritual descendant and successor of the ideas and heritage of the national enlighteners, who founded in Gabrovo the first Bulgarian secular school, today the Technical University of Gabrovo successfully blends the traditions of the past with the potentials of the present in the area of education and science. It is a renowned academic and research center, which provides high-quality training in conformity with the labour market needs for modern broad-profile Bachelor degrees, as well as modern Master and Doctor Degrees in the field of engineering and technologies, business and social sciences. A guarantee for this is the institutional accreditation of the university and the programme accreditation of the degree courses in the professional trends for Bachelor and Master and the research programmes for Ph.D. degree, granted by the National Evaluation and Accreditation Agency. Out of this number there are 8 728 full-time students (5 293 Bachelor students, 3 435 Master students and 672 Postgraduate students). More than 700 professors, associate and assistant profesors work here, and the same number of research and administrative staff. TUKE caters for a wide range of educational needs not only in the East-Slovak region, but throughout Slovakia and Central Europe, as in many specializations it is the only centre of education and research in this area. TUKE closely co-operates with other universities and with industrial organizations throughout the region and the Slovak Republic.

Over 800 highly qualified lecturers train the students in all educational-qualification and academic degrees: Professional Bachelor, Bachelor, Master, and PhD. The educational process provides high quality professional and language training which makes for its international recognition.
