Tenax Sild blev stiftet i 1987 af Jørgen Pedersen, der som driftsleder havde årelang erfaring fra fiskeindustrien. Jørgen Pedersen etablerede Tenax Sild med den helt klare og konkrete ambition at skabe bedre produkter end dem, der blev tilbudt på det eksisterende marked. Kvaliteten skulle være kompromisløs. Grundlaget var – og er – de fede sild fra de rene farvande mellem Island og Norge. Sildene skulle desuden forarbejdes i hånden af fagfolk, der kunne deres kram, nemlig at udskære fileterne så både udseende og smagsoplevelse blev optimal. Og sådan er det stadig. Starten var vanskelig, for konkurrencen var hård. Men stædig fastholdelse i kvalitetskrav gjorde, at markedet for alvor fik øje på Tenax Sild. Og i dag er det sildene fra Tenax Sild, der efterspørges af krævende kunder, både i Danmark og på eksportmarkederne. I 2018 fusionerede Tenax Sild med Launis A/S, og i dag er produktsortimentet udvidet med fiskefrikadeller, fiskepaté og fiskespecialiteter. Tenax Sild er et ægte familiefirma. Sønnen Michael Pedersen har i dag overtaget virksomheden. Flere familiemedlemmer er ansat i virksomheden, og det gør, at også de øvrige medarbejdere betragtes som en del af familien. Det giver et fælles engagement og en stolthed over at arbejde i en virksomhed, hvor der aldrig slækkes på kvalitetsbegrebet.
