Our Mission The Knox County ARC is a non-profit organization that is committed to providing programs and services for people with mental disabilities in Knox County; to safeguard their rights and protect their welfare; and to help each individual achieve the highest possible level of personal growth and independence. The Arc Knox County was founded in 1953.Sunshine Services is owned and operated by the Knox County ARC, a private, non-profit corporation governed by a voluntary Board of Directors. Sunshine Services consists of a number of programs for individuals with disabilities. These programs consist of an Early Intervention Program, Residential Programs, Leisure Services, Retirement Program, Supported Employment, and Sunshine Industries. Sunshine Industries consists of: Providing short term vocational training and long-term sheltered employment to adults with disabilities Work includes light industrial subcontract jobs for local businesses Employees learn work skills and good work habits Enclaves at various community sites Supported employment offers job placement in the community Available Services: Collating Assembly Shrink wrapping items Print shop hand work (labeling, stapling and mailers) Packaging products Sorting

THE ARC KOHLER SCHOOL The Arc Kohler School is a private school for students with developmental delays and disabilities. The school was founded in 1963 and is approved by the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE). Under the auspices of The Arc of Union County, Kohler School serves children from ages 3 to 21. MISSION STATEMENT Every Arc Kohler student is educated and supported to reach their full potential through an individualized education program that aims to meet their unique and diverse needs through the collaboration of academic instruction and therapeutic services. Our collaborative team approach assures best practice in serving and educating our students.

The Arc Mercer is a nonprofit organization providing support services to children and adults with developmental disabilities in the greater Mercer County community. The Arc Mercer is committed to securing for all people with developmental disabilities the opportunity to choose and realize their goals. The Arc Mercer is dedicated to reducing the incidence and limiting the consequences of developmental disabilities through prevention, education, and advocacy. Programs are provided for those who need them and opportunities for integration in the larger community are sought. Friendship and support are offered to families, friends, and the community. The Arc Mercer provides leadership in the field of developmental disabilities and develops the necessary resources to attain these goals.

The Arc's Mission The Arc promotes and protects the human rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, actively supporting them and their families in a lifetime of full inclusion and participation in their communities. Over 70 years ago, The Arc Minnesota started because of conversations between parents of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. These talks had a common vision in mind: that every child with disabilities has the opportunity to live, learn, work and play where and how they wish in their lifetimes. The Arc Minnesota is a grassroots advocacy organization dedicated to securing for all people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families the opportunity to realize their goals of where and how they live, learn, work and play. The Arc has been a leader in system change since 1946 resulting in the move from institutionalization to the current array of community based services and supports for children and adults with disabilities and their families. Annually, The Arc Minnesota serves approximately 4,000 children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (including conditions such as Down syndrome, autism, fetal alcohol spectrum disorder, cerebral palsy and other related conditions), parents/guardians and other family members in the seven county metro area. Services include information and assistance, individual advocacy, networking and Family Access groups, Sibling programs, ArcShops, public policy advocacy and self-advocacy building. The Arc of Atlantic County is a private nonprofit organization that has been making a difference in the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families since its founding in 1961. Through direct services, education, advocacy and prevention activities, we work in partnership with individuals and their families to make choices possible about how and where they live, learn, play and work.

Brief history of The Arc of Bristol County: It must have been heartbreaking. To have a new baby in your arms, and the doctors saying because of the child’s special needs, you should put him or her “away,” essentially forget about them. Such was the case for many families prior to the 1950’s. In 1959, a group of courageous families from the Attleboro area joined forces, wanting to raise their children with developmental disabilities themselves, but knowing they needed support to do so. These were the founding families of The Arc of Bristol County. Wonder if they could have imagined 51 years later, their kitchen table organization would be serving 2,000 individuals annually, offering tremendous opportunities for children and adults with disabilities? As a result of their efforts, and the efforts of hundreds of other families around the world, people with disabilities are more integrated into their communities, have full rights to education and employment, and now have opportunities that would never have been dreamed of half a century ago.
