The BayHelix Group is a non-profit professional organization of business leaders with a mission to shape the growth of the life sciences and healthcare industry. Founded in 2001 in the San Francisco Bay Area, BayHelix has grown to over 800 members globally with a strong presence in China and the US. The Bayswater Institute was founded in 1991 and has more than 20 years experience of undertaking evaluations, action research programmes, consultancy work and organisational development. Much of this work has been in the field of health and social care. Our mission is to help deliver positive outcomes for organisations their staff and their clients. In the past 10 years the Institute has engaged in many projects that are part of nationwide efforts to develop integrated health and social care in the community. We have, for example, worked with GP practices on the processes by which they provide the front door to many other services. Much of our work has concerned the use of new technology to support integrated care and care in the community. We undertook a 4-year study for the National Institute of Health Research to examine the progress and challenges of deploying shared electronic patient record systems (such as SystmOne and Rio) across the boundaries between primary and secondary health care and between health and social care. We have also worked with technology providers in the area of telehealth and telemedicine.
