About Us We believe in social justice and that everyone should have the opportunity to succeed in life. However, some of the most at risk members of Australian society face many challenges along the way. That is why we strive to empower the vulnerable, disadvantaged and excluded. Our focus is on children and young people in, or leaving, out of home care (foster care, residential care and kinship care), teenage mothers, disadvantaged youth and the wrongly convicted. We work to provide these people with the supports and skills necessary to enable them to reach their potential and live their best lives.

The Bridge School is a non-profit organization whose mission is to ensure that individuals with severe speech and physical impairments achieve full participation in their communities through the use of augmentative & alternative means of communication (AAC) and assistive technology (AT) applications and through the development, implementation and dissemination of innovative life-long educational strategies. The Bridge School is an internationally recognized leader in the education of children who use augmentative and alternative communication and has developed unique programs and trained highly skilled professionals in the use of state of the art assistive technology.

We embrace the Okanagan community with two distinct arms of service. One, focusing on community and families by working preventatively with new parents and their infants, counselling families who are struggling with their role, and working on behalf of the Ministry of Children and Family Development with young people in our community who are the most marginalized, street entrenched and disenfranchised. Our second focus includes our recovery and addictions programs. The Bridge is the largest provider of substance use services for the Interior Health Authority, we provide Supported Recovery Housing, Intensive Live-In Adult Treatment, community-based naloxone training, Outreach Overdose Prevention, and Withdrawal Management – detox – for both young people and adults. Governed by a committed Board of Directors, led by a seasoned Executive Director, and supported by a team of more than 100 professional staff and volunteers, the organization has consistently demonstrated its capacity to effectively and responsively meet the needs of the community it serves.
