UNU-MERIT is the UN’s institute for comprehensive innovation: a research and training institute that mobilises knowledge, education and policy to unlock the full potential of comprehensive innovation for sustainable development. The United Nations University – Maastricht Economic and Social Research Institute on Innovation and Technology (UNU-MERIT) is a research and training institute of the United Nations University (UNU) which collaborates closely with Maastricht University. UNU-MERIT aims to advance societal policy and innovation research, provide education and mobilise knowledge in order to unlock the full potential of innovation for achieving inclusive sustainable development. The research agenda of UNU-MERIT on ‘Comprehensive Innovation for Sustainable Development’ (CI4SD) focuses on the interconnected risks and opportunities of innovation, as they relate to climate change, digital transformation, poverty and inequality, migration and population, and the future of work. Dedicated units further reinforce our research agenda by focusing on the economics of innovation, and the governance and public policy of innovation. Further, UNU-MERIT comprises a Graduate School hosting around 80 PhD candidates (both full-time and part- time), more than 100 Master’s students, and numerous participants on our capacity building courses, held onsite and across the Global South.
The United Natural Products Alliance (UNPA) is an international association of forward-looking companies dedicated to providing consumers with natural health products of superior quality, benefit and reliability. While UNPA continues to be a key player working with FDA to reach full and fair implementation of the Dietary Supplement Health & Education Act (DSHEA), many other issues of vital importance to consumers and producers of natural health products are emerging: -A shifting political landscape on Capitol Hill and aggressive enforcement actions by FDA -Implementation of the Food Modernization Safety Act (FSMA) -Integration of healthcare reform and personalized and integrative medicine -Labeling of foods and ingredients containing genetically modified organisms (GMO), including GMO testing and supply-chain balance -An accepted trade definition of natural -A competent adverse event reporting structure in place, where applicable -Nanotechnology and advanced analytical testing capabilities -An expanded global marketplace, including Chinese trade opportunities and barriers To address these and a host of other challenges and opportunities, UNPA has developed a comprehensive strategic plan, based on best practices, to lead the natural health products industry, including food, personal care and dietary supplement companies, into the 21st century. This effort includes the creation of a unique network of state chapters in key states with a strong natural products presence and a compelling economic-significance message targeted to federal and state legislators. This is in addition to advancing the overall natural health products agenda.

UNO leads the transformation of the Hispanic community toward an educated, powerful and prosperous citizenry by engaging and challenging it to redefine its potential and its legacy in metropolitan Chicago and The United States of America. Since its founding in Chicago, UNO has refined its mission by choosing to honor the Hispanic communitys roots and values, challenging it to reach its full potential via efforts to promote Hispanic assimilation. UNO believes the Hispanic community is similar to its Irish, German, and Polish counterparts, among others. As with these immigrant groups, Hispanics have come to the United States to benefit from American opportunity by working hard to create better lives for their families. Representing an historic wave of immigration to the United States, Hispanics are the newest incarnation of that American tradition. UNO believes that, like the paths of our predecessors, Hispanic immigration also carries a set of serious challenges that will test our communitys ability to prosper. The nations largest drop-out rate, gang violence, and teenage pregnancy, among other problems, have for decades stifled this groups potential and accomplishment. Even so, practical solutions to these problems are scarce, as pragmatism often takes a back seat to agendas that portray Hispanics as a victimized community. This depiction of Hispanics as victims is enormously inaccurate. Hispanics must be challenged to take full advantage of American possibilities through deep investments in family, civic involvement and, especially, in the education of its next generation. As a result of its leadership, UNO has seen Hispanics rise to the occasion when presented this challenge. This is a community that cares deeply about family and education. What remains for Hispanics today is creating this same type of engagement and success on a wider scale.

Oltre al progetto IMUN – Italian Model United Nations, articolato in 7 edizioni nazionali e che ha coinvolto nel 2016 più di 5000 studenti e 300 scuole, United Network sviluppa progetti di Alternanza Scuola Lavoro all’interno delle scuole (Schoolmun, Res Publica Art. 33, We The European Union), nonché simulazioni indirizzate agli studente delle scuole medie inferiori. A Marzo 2016, United Network ha organizzato in Italia l'Harvard World Model United Nations, la più grande conferenza per studenti universitari esistente al mondo, insieme all'Università di Harvard.
