United Way of Northwest Georgia is a local 501(c)(3) non-profit organization serving Northwest Georgia. We work every day to advance the common good by investing in high-quality human service programs and by working with philanthropists, businesses, churches, local governments, and dedicated community volunteers to create lasting and measurable changes. United Way creates opportunities for all by focusing on the building blocks for a good life: Education, Basic Needs, and Health. Strategic Guidelines Education: Get kids ready for kindergarten, reading at grade level by 3rd grade, and graduating on time with skills to be career and life-ready. Basic Needs: Reduce the long term need for food, housing, and utility assistance through life skills education and financial counseling. Health: Support prevention services so youth and adults are healthy and avoid risky behaviors.

United Way of Portage County is an independently-governed 501(c)3 nonprofit organization connected to a network of more than 1,400 local United Ways through United Way Worldwide. We have our own board of directors and focus our work creating long-lasting changes by addressing the underlying causes of problems with our community. United Way of Portage Countys strategic approach to community problem solving concentrates on collaboration and results. We achieve results through 34 partner programs and agencies.
