Virotec is a privately owned Australian company that has sat on both sides of the fence of environmental remediation. Virotec started off life as a miner. In 1999, there were problems with the capacity of one of our tailings dams, with the potential for copper, lead and other heavy metal leaching. We also had remediation and rehabilitation issues with a number of our closed mines. We couldn’t find anyone suitable to economically help us, so we undertook our own research and development to remediate these issues. The results were so good that we treated the water in the tailings dam, allowing the release of large amounts of water into the environment at cleaner than drinking water standards with the heavy metals fully absorbed into a benign solid complex at the bottom of the dam. Our other mines were subsequently fully remediated and then sold and so we changed the nature of our business to exclusively concentrate on environmental remediation. Since that time, we have developed and/or found a suite of technologies to handle all and any problem in any industry, no matter how hard. We even treat and destroy illicit substances for police forces! We have a worldwide footprint and international recognition but like our mining history, we understand all of the non technical issues that confront a client and then financially, technically, environmentally and politically, help them work through those issues.

We offer meditation and yoga services with highly customized concepts for three main groups: children, business leaders & employees and athletes. We also give workshops on topics about holistic health, as well as organise yoga and meditation retreats. VIRTA was founded in 2017 by two holistic health passionates Hanna Toivakka and Sonja Hannus. They share a deep curiosity towards constantly learning new about the human body and mind, and utilizing holistic knowledge to transform people to be healthier and happier version of ourselves. VIRTA brings the wisdom of Eastern philosophies and traditions into Western lifestyle and everyday routines. The method combines yoga therapy, chinese medicine and deals with human health as a psychology-physiological whole. The founder’s roots and love for Finland radiates throughout the elements of VIRTA method. VIRTA’s mission is to bring tools for individuals and groups for increased health and happiness. The founders believe that each of us is our own best doctor and want to encourage people to take responsibility of their lives and through conscious attention, begin a transformation journey.

Virtakivi Sauna has been completed for recreational use by the Kymi Company personnel in 1925. Architects Armas Lindgren and Bertel Liljeqvist designed the building in the 1920s. The workers of the Voikkaa papermill uses a three-storey 800 square meter building for sauna, laundry and baking. Located in an idyllic river landscape, on the banks of the River Kymijoki, the building now houses a summer café, a restaurant, a coffee roastery, meeting and exhibition facilities, and of course a sauna and a container bar in the yard with a relaxed atmosphere. The Virtakivi Sauna's summer café is open from the beginning of May until the end of August. We are also open on holidays such as Easter, Mother's and Father's Day, Valentine's Day and New Year's. At other times and evenings, the facilities can be reserved for private occasions. Lunch, from traditional Finnish dishes, is served from Monday to Friday, between 11am-3pm. Virtakiven Sauna creates an excellent setting for meetings, events and celebrations. On beautiful summer days, events can be moved to the tents in the yard right on the shore of Lake Kymijoki. Virtakivi Sauna welcomes you to the wonderful Kymijoki landscape.
